today t’was a good day at SOuthway. We were blessed and fortunate to have numerous first time guests and were able to commission Lori Burleson for her trip to Kenya, as she leaves on June 30.

People who don’t silence their cell phone during important meetings. Like prayer meetings.
-One word: Cats. (Another word: Joke)
-Two words: Country Music (another 2 words: no joke)
-three words: Please press 3 (I want a person not automation)
- People who forward email alerts without checking to see if they are real or not.
-Fwd of a fwd of a fwd that you have to open 10 windows for a one sentence email.
-the emails that say if you don’t pass this onto at least 10 people you don’t love Jesus and are probably going to hell.
-stuck at a green light. Behind someone who doesn’t realize they have the right to go.
-I realized that if God were to have pet peeves….which he does..read some of the book of Isaiah and Matthew 15-16, this is one of them.
-Stuck at a green light when you’re supposed to go. God’s given us the green light.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:17-18
-All through out John we see Jesus as being “sent”. Sent on a mission.
34 For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure. 35 The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:34-36
-messenger is like sender. Familiar concept in Jewish life.
33So the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?” 34Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. 35Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. John 4:33-35
29and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. 30 “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me. 31 If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not deemed true. John 5:29-31
Why did God send Jesus?
38For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39And this is the will of him who sent me that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:38-40
Turning Point:
20Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin,[a] but now they have no excuse for their sin. John 15:20-22 ESV
-Expect hard times. Why? People don’t know who sent Jesus. Won’t know the Jesus that sends you.
18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. John 17:18
19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:19-22 ESV
-aftermath of the crucifixion. Great news: He’s alive. The tomb is empty.
-Jesus the sent, now becomes the sender.
-Father sends Jesus, Jesus sends us, and gives the HS to empower.
Why does Jesus Send Us?
-He has the right to do so.
-He has the power to equip so.
-he has the glory due him.
-we get the joy.
4How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Romans 10:14-15
6So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”Acts 1:6-8
Green means go.
My biggest pet peeve in ME-good intentions but never leading anywhere? Intentions must lead to action. While we are sending Lori, may we also realize that we too are sent. His mission. Our joy.
Back soon with more.
