To most people I write to on this, they are largely unfamiliar with my background. So the names Dave Slottje, Jeff Chandler, Mike Cahill, John Trautner, Scott Wright, Woody Woodward and Howie Ohman will largely mean nothing.
That’s about to change.
Over the next week, I’ll have the pleasure of introducing or re-introducing these men to you, showing you why you should follow them as they follow Jesus Christ. Each of them has had a massive impact on my life, and it’s going to be a giddy pleasure to show you how.
Here’s the scorecard so you can keep up…..well, in reality so I can keep up:
Dave Slottje: current missionary with East-West Ministries, former sr. pastor of Kingwood Community Church. Known by his friends as “PD.”
Jeff Chandler: current lead pastor of Southcrest Church in Newnan, GA (right by Atlanta) and former youth pastor of KCC. Known by his friends as “stud muffin.”
Mike Cahill: current head of the Kensington Group, and former intern and youth pastor of KCC.
John Trautner: I believe John is working for the school system in Kingwood/Humble, former intern at KCC and missionary abroad. Personally, I think John would be the best father the world has ever seen.
Scott Wright: Former intern at KCC and youth pastor at churches in Texas and Colorado. One of the most unfortunate honors I’ve had (sounds weird, but stay with me) was to be a pallbearer at Scott’s funeral. Hardly a week goes by where I don’t think about “Big Scott,” who the only thing bigger than his linebacker-sized frame was his God-sized heart.
Woody Woodward: former interim pastor at KCC and current sr. pastor there under the new name of Kingwood Bible Church. Woody is known by his friends as “church doctor.” At least that’s what it says on one of his email addys:)!!
Howie Ohman: former worship pastor at KCC and current worship pastor for Richland BIble Church in Michigan. If you want to know why I like Piper, ask Howie. It’s all his fault.
I can’t wait to introduce you to these guys…..
